This look is for those of you who don't think you can pull of the severeness of Amy Winehouse's look, but would really like to. In other words, it's like the vanilla version of Amy's chocolate look. In even other words, it's like the summer/spring to Amy's fall/winter.

Make Up Application: Charlotte Tilbury's beautiful inspiration was none other than Shakespeare's Ophelia, the muse of many a Pre-Raphaelite painter. The makeup artist executed her version in a palette of blurred mauves, roses, and chocolates, highlighted with antique golds and bronzes. "It's a very dreamy, far-away look," said Tilbury. Tilbury left the skin looking damp, a romantic interpretation of Ophelia's sad, watery fate. To start, she applied a thin layer of a full coverage foundation—"an imperative for impeccable, expensive-looking skin"—then ran a glossy highlighter over cheekbones and lids. After the foundation, Radiance Mist, and luminzer, apply blush to the apple of the cheeks, then lightly blend towards the temples. Make sure it diffuses properly, so you don't end up with a crazy pink streak headed into your hairline. For the base of the eye shadows follow these 3 steps: first, apply the brown shadows in the palette to the ends and the bottom lash line of the lids up towards the brow bone, like a sweeping cat eye of sorts (very Amy). Second, lightly dust the previously-made sweep with the eye dust. Third, dab the eye color cream along the lash line and inner corner of the eyes, diffusing towards the bottom lash line. For the lips, use the lipstick straight from the bullet for a richer color.

Hair Styling: If Ophelia captured Tilbury's imagination, it was Rapunzel who preoccupied hair stylist James Brown. To create his sultry Dark Ages look, he flat-ironed sections of the hair and twirled others into whimsical little ribbons. A mist of GHD's Dry Hair Spray created an invisible, flexible web around the hair, perfect for ethereal creations like Brown's. Brown's appetite for "destroyed-looking styles" comes as little surprise; the stylist's own Return to the Blue Lagoon ringlets make him easy to spot backstage. "It is so sexy to have a pile of disheveled hair," he proclaimed, partially in defense of his own curly, nonconformist crown. And while he's the first to admit that long, shiny Gisele-style layers haven't exactly lost their appeal, he suggests updos and ponytails as a flattering option for those who weren't blessed with the famous Brazilian's bombshell locks. The key, he said, is to go for height. "You're going to see much more hair up this spring."

Application: "Anna and I were on a nature kick," said Garren, who conceptualized the hair for Sui's show. "So I separated the hair into ropey waves." ([Nexxus Retexxtur Putty] gives great definition.) He also packed light—hairbrushes weren't a part of his down-home hairstyle. "It's not a clean cut, so don't comb through it. Do that, and you'll wind up with the Gisele." While Garren admitted that Ms. Bündchen's smooth, voluminous layers have a well-earned place in fashion, they gave way to an earthier style on Sui's prairie. While the look bordered on monochromatic—tawny shadows, sandy cheeks, and tan skin—makeup artist Pat McGrath gave each girl a punch-colored pout, the perfect match for Sui's vibrant pieces. Even when attempting to go rugged, stylish types keep a [spray bottle with water] strapped closely to their holsters. A quick mist of [water] gave the models' hair a piecey feel. "[It] gets rid of static," Garren added.For a desert-friendly look, McGrath used a foundation that was slightly deeper than each model's skin tone, and then used a rich bronzer on cheeks.

Application: Osmond began by evening out the skin tone with [foundation]. Next, she brushed a pair of [matte brown eye shadows] into the crease of the eyelid and along the bottom lash line. She then created a metallic eye with three iridescent powders— [Molecule D'or 31] on the inner corner of the lid, [Victorian Rose] in the center, and [Golden Sand] on the outer corner—blending one into the next for an almost ombré effect. "The best brushes are domed and fluffy, which makes the shadow easier to apply and blend," Osmond said. Once the eye color was in place, Osmond brushed the top and bottom lashes with black volumizing mascara and perfected brows with a pencil and clear setting gel. She enhanced the cheekbones with [luminizer], before patting a sheer peachy-brown cream color [lipstick] into lips. A slick of peachy blossom pink (MAC Lipglass in Florabundance) on top added a shiny finish.

Application: 

Massage moisturizer into your complexion, and follow with a light foundation. After adding shimmer to the inner corners of the eyes, "to make them come alive," trace the bottom lids with a crisp, green pencil. This verdant detail makes a major impact. "First, [blow-dry] the hair with [sheer shine mist]," explained Orlando Pita. "Then [follow] with [cream]." Lightly apply a sheer layer of lipstick to your lips.

Makeup Application: 

The first step was thickening and defining the models' brows with [a brow pencil in taupe]. For the eye, Tilbury applied a pair of charcoal-colored shadows in the socket, then layered a pair of blue hues. A creamy beige matte shadow was blended under the brow as a highlighter, and an ebony eyeliner pencil was swiped along the upper lash line to intensify the look. Tilbury channeled Streisand via a full set of strip lashes followed with a few coats of black mascara. Out in the real world, she recommends skipping the strips and playing up lashes with a volumizing mascara instead. Tilbury's dark, smoky lid called for minimal makeup on cheeks and lips. She used rosy cream blushes to give cheeks a healthy flush of color and subtly contoured the face with a matte bronze powder. "The skin was left as fresh as possible to keep it youthful and glowing," said Tilbury, who eschewed foundation in favor of concealer only where necessary. She finished off the look with a multipurpose shimmery pale peach cream, applied with the pad of a finger for a hint of barely-there color. Hair Styling: "Ultimately, we settled on an undone, tousled updo," he said. Danilo blow-dried the hair smooth, then had models tip their heads upside down so he could spray their hair with Pantene Pro-V Style Texturize! Ultimate Texture Hairspray, a strong-hold styling and finishing spritz that created an "undone" effect. Thanks to the holding power of the spray, the hair required only minimal back-combing at the crown to build the body Danilo craved. Once the hair was sprayed and teased, Danilo smoothed it into a French twist and pinned it in place. He swept bangs and long front layers loosely to the side and encouraged pieces of hair to fall where they may. "I wanted it to look as though you had your hair done and then took a scooter to your occasion," he said. A final mist of the hair spray sealed the windblown effect in place. "It's an ingenue look," he said of the finished style. 

*Sure, it may cost a lot, but this multi-purpose cream blush stick is so useful, you may end up using it every single day, just to brighten up your face or lips. Trust us - it's worth every penny.

Best Beauty Buys...Roberto Cavalli

This look is a little bit longer than we may have posted before, but we have instructions straight from the makeup guru herself, Pat McGrath. Some of the makeup listed is the actual makeup that McGrath used to create this makeup look for the Roberto Cavalli Fall 2008 RTW show. We think that you should try this look when going to a semi-formal affair, as it isn't too dressy, but too dressy for a daytime look. The makeup has a lot of shine to it, so keep your jewelry to a minimum and save your sequin cocktail dress for another time - you want to glow, not blind! And since the hair is too "female James Dean" for the average woman, may we suggest a simple chignon so as not to overpower your face. For the younger crowd (about 25 or younger) try a low ponytail instead to keep your look young and fresh. For both hairstyles, don't forget to tease the crown to get some volume - you want to look simple, not flat! I suggest the all of you try this look out because it works great for any age and any skin colour. And not to sound too cheesy, but go out and GLOW!

Application: Apply liquid foundation to entire face. Apply concealer to problem areas (like under eyes, corners of nose, etc.). Apply pressed powder to entire face. All three are meant to create an even, natural canvas. Apply the Laura Mercier Creme Eye Colour on the upper lids, the Nars Eye Shadow along the outer edges, and the CoverGirl Eye Enhancers shadow along the lower lash line. Dab the EyeLighter to the inner corners of the eye, to make your eyes appear bigger. Curl lashes, then brush on the mascara. Use the bronzer on the outer cheeks and the blush on the apples of the cheeks, to give the skin a warm glow. Use Benefit Moon Beam to highlight the cheek, nose and along the brow line. Apply the lipstick by pressing it on with your finger, for a soft finishing touch.

Application: This look is concentrated on the eyes, so keep the rest of the face (and your accessories) to a minimum. First, apply the base to the entire face to make sure you have a matte face. Lightly brush the pressed powder to entire face. Lightly brush bronzer onto cheekbones. Dab concealer onto lips with forefinger, essentially "erasing" the colour of lips. Lightly brush on black eye shadow along entire top lid (beginning at inside corners of eyes), then trail out to end of eyebrow bone. Also brush on lower lash line. Make sure you are doing this lightly, because it's easier to build up the colour then it is to tone it down! Brush on the glimmer to the center of the eyelid, and in the inside corners of the eyes. Lastly, brush a coat of mascara onto top and bottom lashes. Follow these instructions and you'll shine all night long. Hint: Keep a compact of pressed powder and some blotting papers with you to make sure that you keep your shine to a minimum.

Application: Moisturize face with...moisturizer (what else?) Lightly apply foundation to entire face. Lightly apply brightener to entire face. Brush blush onto the apples of your cheeks, then very lightly to entire cheek. Brush eyebrows with brow mascara. Lightly line eyes with glistener. Brush on one coat of clear mascara to eyelashes. Brush darker shadow over eyelid, eye crease, right below the brow bone, and on lower lash line. Dab lighter shadow onto the inside corners of your eyes. Blend slightly into the other darker shadow. Lightly apply color stick to your lips (if using Persimmon, lightly dab color onto temples and apples of your cheeks with your forefinger). Hint: This look IS meant to be luminescent, but don't overdo the glow! Make sure that you catch the light, but don't shine brighter than the light! Turn of the lights to test the magnitude of your shine.

Today we're going back in time to Chanel's Spring 2007 RTW show. We've always been a big fan of Chanel's runway looks, but so far, this is our all-time favourite. We love the eccentricity but still polished makeup look, and decided to give you, our readers, a chance to try it out for yourself!

Application: Lightly apply tinted moisturizer to entire face. Lightly brush cheek stain into hollow of cheeks, especially near the ends nearest to the ears. Brush a fairly thick line of gold eye shadow along the bottom lash line, then brush an equally think line of silver eye shadow along the top lash line/lid. Brush on a single coat of mascara (don't be heavy-handed when it comes to the mascara - this look is all about the shadow). Brush on a light coat of eyebrow mascara, to set the brow. Swipe on one coat of lip color (don't be heavy-handed with this either). Lastly, paint nails with the silver nail polish, for the complete Chanel look. Hint: while this look is great for nighttime, for a day look, we suggest using just the gold eye shadow or just the silver eye shadow, and only on the lids (and for the last time, don't be heavy-handed!)

This is definitely not a heavily made-up eye, like the last weeks "Best Beauty Buys"). Dab lip colour onto the lips with your finger, concentrating most of the colour onto the center of the lips. 

Hint: Be sparing with the lip colour for your day time look. For a more intense look for night, apply another layer of lip colour and a layer of mascara (we suggest Rimmel Double Play Mascara in Black/Brown - $8, also available at Target).
