Inspired...Gossip Girl
We were browsing topshop.com and came upon these dresses. Now I don't know about you, but we are HUGE Gossip Girl fans, and these dresses were dead ringers of the dresses that Blair and Serena wore during their impromptu photo shoot around the fountain. The open back, the high neck front, the 3/4 sleeves, etc. But while those were stolen dresses from Eleanor Waldorf's collection, these dresses will give you the exact same look but without the illegality! This is for all you Blair and/or Serena wannabes - we know how you feel. We love 'em too!

High Street...Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan isn't usually a trendsetting girl, but every once in a while Lindsay will been seen in really urban, young styles. This dress is exactly that - an urban, cool, young girls summer dress. And it just happens to work perfectly for every body type (and at a great price too)! It's offered in both the white/cream colour just like Lindsay's, but we love the navy as well because it's such an unexpected colour in the summer.

Runway-to-Freeway...Ralph Lauren Resort
This outfit is what I imagine modern prep to be. It has all the elements of a clean, crisp, Jackie O.-esque ensemble, but with a twist of modernism. I hope that this will inspire all of you who can't live with out your cable-knit twin set to try a fresher look - and in turn, change the way prepsters all over the world dress (well, maybe not world wide...). So hang up your polos and have a great day at the beach - preferably in the Hamptons!
1.) Polished Hoops (in Gold) - $3; forever21.com
2.) Spring Floral Scarf (in Cream/Rust or Blue/Turquoise) - $8; forever21.com
3.) Multi Bangles Set of 50 (in Gold) - $18; urbanoutfitters.com
4.) Cotton Shirt Tunic (in White) - $23; forever21.com
5.) Printed Ruffle Drawstring Mini (in Citrus Lime or Kelly Green) - $10; jcrew.com
6.) Figure Eight Sandal (in Gold) - $28; urbanoutfitters.com
Our thought: The reason we gave the two options for the scarf and the skirt is because we wanted to have two colour palettes for this look. The first colour choices are truer to the Ralph Lauren outfit (a red/orange colour scheme), while the second colour choices are in a blue/green colour scheme. Choose the one that fits you best, or get both and it's almost like having another outfit!

Under $100
Today's outfit is for those jet setters who are always seeking the ultimate airport outfit. Obviously, comfort is a big factor for those long plane rides and crowded airports, but it doesn't mean that it's an excuse for sloppiness. When it comes to choosing your outfit, choose solid, darker colours with a loose but not baggy fit. The key to achieving this look is simplicity. A cardigan is an airplane staple because it can be easily removed if the temperature is too stuffy, and can just as easily be thrown on if it gets too chilly. The stretch t-shirt in a stain-friendly colour is a practical choice because of those people in front of you who ALWAYS lean back too far and knock over your drink! Don't forget to break out the jeans - the ones we picked have a lean, straight leg but won't confine you like your skinny jeans, cause skinny jeans on a 6 hour flight to NY? No thanks! Lastly, ballet flats are ideal to get through security without having to readjust too much, as they take no time to lace or zip up, but still fashionably trendy (unlike the equally practical Ugg boots, but unlike these flats, Uggs are definitely not fashionable). So put on this versatile outfit, pile on your luggage, beat the crowds to the airport and have a nice flight!

Inspired...Reese Witherspoon
The ELLE spread with Reese Witherspoon embodied her personal style exactly. The ease but sophistication that Reese always exudes makes women over 30 (and any and all women, really) realize that there's more to motherhood-style than just sweatpants. She's a literal trendsetter, sparking trends such as yellow formal wear, long charm necklaces and blunt bangs. Even in the most casual situations (working out, grocery shopping, etc.) Reese is the epitome of perfection, usually opting for classic styles and all-black looks (without looking the slightest bit gothic). And you know that if she's that impeccable taking her kids to school, she has to blow your mind at red carpet events. And she does - all while remaining completely grounded and personable. So this weeks "Inspired..." is a dedication to one of the ultimate style icons of the 00's. Keep it up Reese, cause we think you're great!

High Street...Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham has been seen carrying around a lovely white bag in a shape similar to that of the Hermes "Birkin" bag, which instantly adds class and maybe even a higher status to an outfit. It's the perfect alternative to the very pricey bag, which can sell for anywhere from $6,000 to $100,000 - this bag is under $50!

Best Beauty Buys...Oscar de la Renta
This summer might be all about the natural, monochromatic beauty, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun with your nighttime look! Oscar de la Renta's Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear show was all about deep shades with lots of shine. So today, we brought this dark charm to you.
To recreate this look quickly with inexpensive beauty products, use:
Available at target.com or sephora.com
Face: Boots No.7 Mattifying Makeup Base - $10, Sonia Kashuk Bare Minimum Pressed Powder Makeup - $9, Bronzer Powder SPF 15 (in Riviera) - $15
Eyes: Stila Matte Eye Shadow (in Makalu/Black) - $18, bareMinerals Glimmer (in True Gold/14k Gold) - $13, Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara (in Black) - $7
Lips: Bourjois Imperfection Concealer (in Beige Rose) - $10.50
Application: This look is concentrated on the eyes, so keep the rest of the face (and your accessories) to a minimum. First, apply the base to the entire face to make sure you have a matte face. Lightly brush the pressed powder to entire face. Lightly brush bronzer onto cheekbones. Dab concealer onto lips with forefinger, essentially "erasing" the colour of lips. Lightly brush on black eye shadow along entire top lid (beginning at inside corners of eyes), then trail out to end of eyebrow bone. Also brush on lower lash line. Make sure you are doing this lightly, because it's easier to build up the colour then it is to tone it down! Brush on the glimmer to the center of the eyelid, and in the inside corners of the eyes. Lastly, brush a coat of mascara onto top and bottom lashes. Follow these instructions and you'll shine all night long. Hint: Keep a compact of pressed powder and some blotting papers with you to make sure that you keep your shine to a minimum.

Enviable...Zooey Deschanel
Old Hollywood glamour style, indie attitude, great singing voice, and acting chops to boot! What's not to love about Ms. Deschanel? Her eclectic style mixed with vintage glamour blends beautifully, and she always pulls it off effortlessly. Her style works for day or evening, casual or dressed up, and anywhere in between. We especially love the second one down, the dress she wore to the David Letterman Show and the second to last dress, the navy Marchesa cocktail dress. If only we could be half as prepared as she always seems to be! Her laid back demeanor and quirky beauty definitely make us envious (and we're sure you are too - unless you ARE Zooey, in which case we love what you do!) Hopefully we can all adapt some of Zooey to our style and in turn, improve the style of the world.
Congratulations Zooey - we officially envy you :)
